De l’écriture [With Writing]
Selected Works from the Collection of the
Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal
Organized and circulated by the Musée d’art contemporain
de Montréal
with the financial support of the Department of
Canadian Heritage,
through its Museum Assistance program.
This theme-based exhibition of works from the Collection of the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal offers us a unique perspective and many paths to a clearer understanding of trends in contemporary art. The exhibition is a gathering of noteworthy works in which a significant part of the content is decoded through the literal or literary acknowledgement of the word. Produced mainly from 1974 to 2000 by Canadian and foreign artists, the works are drawn from a range of disciplines: painting, engraving, drawing, collage, assemblage, sculpture, photography and video; they also offer a fragmentary panorama, fully invested with signs and indicators, of some of the leading trends in contemporary art. |

S : 10 000 VARIATIONS
A performance based installation exploring
gesture and varietion in calligraphic practice. If
calligraphy be the art of gesture, then this work
explores the boundary between a communal
understanding and an individual expression,
between Art and Craft, and the contemporary
expression of a classical discipline. |
