  Confluence
The Klondike gold rush stemmed from the
wanderings of restless men. While it remains
the dominant story of Dawson, it is by no
means the only one. ‘Confluence’ documents
different streams of Yukon life through
everyday objects. Borrowed from personal
and public collections in Dawson, from the
museum as well as the dump, objects and
artifacts are paired to contrast ethnography
with cultural history, and what is found with
what is lost
.
  Remote Sensibility
Yukon artist Marten Berkmans explores
various media, from new technologies to
old (stereoscopy, video installation, photo
montage) as a sensitive bridge between urban
industrial culture and the earth’s remote and
wild places. As his work uncovers layers
of meaning in the land, media technology
becomes part of our ecology, in forming
bridges of perception with the earth.

  Sorry

Sorry is made up of contemporary public apologies by politicians, CEOs, celebrities and sports stars. Nova-Scotia artist Cathy Busby presents a much-enlarged series of inkjet prints that are cropped to the mouth of the speaker. The exhibition is accompanied by a publication including many more images, the associated words of apology and several essays.
