Listening to the Mountain

Elaine Whittaker
Spontaneous Generation

Whitehorse-based Nicole Bauberger tracks the process of becoming more intimate with a specific mountain in the northern reaches of Tombstone Park. The title refers to the artist's sense of entering into a relationship with the mountain, learning to understand it, listening to what she calls "the conversation going on between the dynamic skies and strong wide mountains."

Toronto-based Elaine Whittaker creates mixed-media installations where art, science and the environment intersect. Spontaneous Generation straddles humour and horror to present a world where infection protection fashion wards off insects and infectious disease. Are you ready for a post-glacial planet where heat rises, mosquitoes reign and microbes fester?
